Stat notice pay

Hi guys got made redundant on Monday after 16 years, company is insolvent and I have claimed for my monies from the gov website, however at the end it says when you claim for your notice pay if you haven't claimed for JSA or other benefits this will be deducted from the payment as though you have.

Right I live in a full universal credit catchment area and I am not entitled to JSA because the MRS works more than 24 hours and we have more than 6k in the bank because of the redundancy payment.
If i'm not entitled to JSA surely there is no point in signing on, I am not going to do so just to claim my stamp so what can they take off at the end when I claim my notice payment?

Cheers guys.

  • You might be entitled to contributions based, New Style JSA if your NI has been paid. You get that regardless of your wife's income.

    Why not?...
    It's nothing , not nothink.
  • Because I don't think it's worth my time, I'll get another job easily enough I've worked since I was 16 I'm now 37 and never claimed anything so to go to the job center have a meeting, prove I'm looking for a job for the sake of a couple of months stamp paid, I'm ok I'd rather just have a month off then apply and start within weeks after.

Cheers when I go to apply it says only apply if, and I break two of the rules so it's kinda telling me not to apply, it's very confusing.

Not sure what you mean by this. To claim Contributions based JSA you need to have worked and paid enough NI contributions in the previous 2 tax years. As you've worked for all those years then i'm sure you'll qualify. If your area is a full universal credit area then it will be New Style Contributions based JSA you'll need to claim. See link for detail about how to claim.
