my mum has gone in a carehome while her care package at home is sorted out ,she is coming up to her 4th week in the home as they are struggling to get carers to look after her in her own flat.she gets a state pension ,pension credit & attendance allowance I realise after so many weeks some or all the benefits are stopped till shes back home do I have to let them know or would social services .

Both AA and Pension Credit should be informed that your mum has entered a care home.

AA will be suspended after 4 weeks unless she is fully funding her care in the home.

The suspension of AA may mean that she is no longer entitled to the severe disability premium of Pension Credit (if applicable) which is why Pension Credit needs to be informed as well.

Social Services will not inform them. You will need to do this yourself.

AA and loss of any Pension Credit amount can be reinstated when your mum returns home.
