I've been a bit lazy recently with hoeing and keeping paths clear and suddenly I have an invasion of a weed I haven't come across before. It is a horizontal creeping weed with long red stems and tiny green leaves and even tinier red flowers or seeds. It has spread really quickly just about everywhere.
Does anyone know what it is and why it has suddenly sprung up?
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion but it isn't. The leaves are small and oval in a herringbone arrangement along the stem. I'm beginning to think it's not a conventional weed but a garden plant out of place.
Sorry I don't know how to upload a photo.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

OP could soon tell, crush some between fingers & sniffEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

I think it might be pellitory of the wall, have a look on google images.
I have it and it is a pain to get rid of.0 -
That's it I think (It does look a bit like the wild marjoram too but it is much flatter in growth). It's definitely the pellitory of the wall. It seems to be taking over my garden, or at least any sections that don't have much planting and also creeping across the patio.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
