HELP.....Mobile Hacked

A friend is currently on holiday in Tenerife, and has just messaged me to say her phone made 10 calls during the night, and her phone needs recharging.

She reckons it might be linked to a Leone Lewis music track she downloaded.

What should she do?

How did someone hack their phone to make calls? Was your friend a bit the worse for wear? Forgot to lock the phone?

I thought that hacking could get around the usual safeguards. But I couldn't help, so enlisted MSE for advice.
