My friend has decided he would like a desktop pc and has decided to go the refurbished route,he would like it to be windows 10,he wouldn't be using it for much apart from surfing the web banking, and he loves youtube videos,I have no idea about desktops so wouldn't know which ones to ask him to avoid or which ones to promote,he's not a big spender,he's looking to spend about £80,if anyone has any knowledge on these matters or knows where to go or which machine would be a good one for him,it would be much appreciated
I did see an Acer that looked good but it's gone up by £30
This was the spec of the Acer x3995 Core i3 Dual-Core Processor @ 3.3GHz
4GB DDR3 RAM
120GB SSD
Built in Wireless Networking
Multi Card Reader (SD, Compact Flash etc.)
DVD/CD Rewriter
Windows 10
It was £79.99 but has gone up to £110
If his budget has to go up a little I will have to tell him that

Does he require the other bits of equipment eg mouse, keyboard, monitor or just the base unit ?
You say he would like a desktop PC so Im assuming he needs the other bits too.0 -
2nd gen of i3? Personally would not touch it, to old and to expensive, and you can get better. Possibly worth £80 though?
What you want to tell your friend is do, of possible is not to buy a core 2 duo, and get one with a cpu which has the newest generation of cpu he can afford.
An Core i3 2120 is a second generation chip, I3 3220 is a third generation cpu that is newer and faster, and even better is Core i3 4130 which is 4th gen. it goes up to 8 gen.
This compares them http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-4130-vs-Intel-Core-i3-3220
Personally would spend £19 more and rather go for a https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Optiplex-3020-4th-Gen-Core-i3-Windows-10-SFF-PC/173559252901?hash=item2868f007a5:g:LasAAOSwGVJbXvpp

If he is not worried about dents, scratches and the front falling off, the this is an ok i5 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-7010-USFF-i5-3470S-2-9GHz-320GB-HDD-4GB-RAM-Grade-B-Case/273477996885?epid=20023589133&hash=item3fac8f1155:g:lVEAAOSwPv9bVgVF
Some of these may not have windows 10 pre-installed, and you need a key from ebay that often cost under £5
To be fair SSD has an immediate impact, but once the computer has booted, especially when new it is not that noticeable, but stack it full of crud and small files things become different. SSD is the way to go if cash is not tight, cost about £20 upward.
Something cheaper, usually an intel motherboard, but the ones above are better https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Viglen-Genie-Core-i5-desktop-pc-3-00GHz-4GB-250GB-Windows-10-Home/183227306418?hash=item2aa932d1b2:g:EnsAAOSwV6ta-vhV
How about something for about £40, cheap to run, apparently it can surf and youtube too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYPATphfGY40 -

Yes you can get them with a hdmi port, it may push the price up a bit but maybe others can come up with an option.0
