Worse one yet

I have app on my phone and you can put in the car reg and it will check the tax and MOT status. Ive just been to a local supermarket whilst my wife went off on a headless chicken mission i sat in car . A old Volvo pulls up in front exhaust blowing headlight out and a bloke and a woman got out not exactly dressed for the catwalk. Anyway after they went off put reg in ..............MOT ran out over 3 years ago and last taxed in 2013 . And id bet my house that it wasnt insured either.or probaly not reg either so any tickets cant be sent etc. Yet someone i know did 33 in a 30 and got a £88 fine and a afternoon in the naughty class. On his occasion the 10% plus 3 or whatever they use wasnt used obviously they were down on speeders and threw the book at anything over the limit....................one word JOKE !!!

How are you so sure that the app you are using is up to date?
They could have done the necessary within or on the day that you checked using the app.
I 've noticed newish cars that do not seem to have the up to date relevants.

Mine wasn't when I had a recent MOT test.
In fact if it's cazana you are using, it suggests there may be flags on the car to entice the user to pay for their extra checks.

If only there were an organisation that could patrol the roads, with access to these databases, who could spot cars like that and stop them, rather than cameras that simply photograph them driving past at high speed.

I think they tried it once, in The Olden Days- "Police" I think they were called, they even had uniforms, distinctive liveried cars and everything.

I wonder why it never caught on....

That sounds more like a Speed Awareness Course and all these stories of 31-34 in a 30 that people recant always seem to happen to a friend of a friend or an acquaintance, very strange that.

For the first time I can ever remember, there's been a crackdown on untaxed cars local to me - reports on local Facebook pages of loads being seized/immobilised or whatever. I actually saw a van with 'road tax enforcement' or similar on it - so they do exist.
I'd be happy to see more of this

We get those: they only seem to clamp the people who think that "zero tax" means that they don't have to tax their car.

There were quite a lot of those round our way this year. There's a big block of flats where people obviously don't have much money and most of them were outside there. Made me feel kind of sad for them.
