I've had two quotes, one from a local fitter and one from Wickes. Both are coming in at around £4k for labour (+£3.5k fittings not inc tiles, Wickes was £2k for items but didn't include cold water tank, furniture or branded shower - the shower is £1300 by itself! I may go for a cheaper one). The bathroom is small, around 6ft x 7ft.
Fitter says 9 days. Wickes say 5 days.
This is for
- Gutting and disposing of current bathroom
- Make good walls and plaster skim ceiling
- Tile two walls fully, one half
- Fit bathroom suite and shower (including basin and toilet furniture)
- Fit new bathroom pump and cold water tank
- Move light switch
I am happy with the fittings cost, and I can see the quote detailed. I could save some cash on the shower.
I am going to get another couple of quotes but I'm trying to go in with the aim for £3k for labour. Am I being unrealistic? I'm not trying to be cheap, but it's a lot of money for what is less than two weeks work.

My quotes (5 I think) came in at 4k as well for a slightly smaller bathroom. Also had 1 at 3k and 1 and 2k but wasn't confident they would do a good job. Lots of other posts on here with similar prices so 3k is probably unrealistic.
What shower costs £1300? :eek:0 -
Thanks very much.
The thermostat mixer control was £300, overhead shower was £500, normal shower was £100, then the extra fittings part were £100. Then VAT on top. All Hansgrohe which I think is where the issue lies.
They are very nice though0 -
Sounds very expensive, but a lot of the cost/time will be the tiles I expect.
Our bathroom is a bit bigger, probably 8ft x 8ft and we've been quoted £1500 for labour at 4-5 days, we aren't having the same amount of plastering though and we are going for cladding and not tiles.
We live in the north-east, if you're in London are then that may explain the difference.
Your fittings also look expensive but if you're getting top end stuff that could be why.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080
