photo doubles

hi, in the process of sorting out over 1000 photos from many discs and mem cards, weeded out a load of doubles which was easy enough as the replica ended in '-1'....but i still have loads of doubles that have DIFFERENT file names. is there a way i can find and delete the doubles by data and file size instaed of name? ta

  • You could try this free prog http://www.easyduplicatefinder.com/ it will find all your doubles but double check before you delete any to be on the safe side.

thanks, are you sure it does it by the actual data and not file name though (it doesn't say) as my duplicates have totally different names.

To be honest it just looks like it finds stuff by file name or file size from the screenshots. Only benefit is that it can search your whole computer.

If you have all the files in one place the best option is to just do a comparison by using the view option by file size or file name or maybe even file type.

I don't know how any software would read the data in any other way to find duplicates.
