Yes I can see that it appears they should in which case OP should be OK. I had missed this.

In the case I referred to in my earlier post the person did not end their employment but went on unpaid leave so the situation was different. In their case they knew the period of care was unlikely to last long and they wanted to be able to return to work.

It really shouldn't be this confusing!!

Thank you again!! And it definitely shouldn't be this confusing! I will have to wait I guess but my main concern was it should be backdated to when I quit my job (or at least close to it) and it definitely seems to be the case. I will post on here when I hear the outcome...

Hi all - so got the letter today I have been awarded Carer's Allowance - had it backdated to the week after my dad was awarded his attendants allowance so pretty much the whole time. Thank you again for the help.
