This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
Thank you all for your messages of support yesterday. Much as I’m not keen on going back into a psychiatric hospital, I do think that it is for the best, and the safest option right now. I’m not sure exactly when it will be. I will probably get a phone call and then need to go in straight away so I will get most of the things I want to take with me packed this weekend so that I am ready to go. Nelski will let you all know when I have gone in, and keep you updated.
I will be able to read along this time, but I can’t manage to post on my phone. I’ve tried in the past when I’ve been away just can’t seem to get it right..
First thing I want to go to the supermarket and get the last few bits to take in with me, like chocolate, and biscuits! Then get into town for the last few toiletries I need.
There is a load for the washing machine as well, mainly warmer clothes that need freshening up, so I will get that on as soon as I get back.
Then I plan to spend the day, watching some TV programmes that I have got recorded. I may even be back home in time to join Nelski at James’ house.
Silver-oldie I’m another one who has now realised that I need to make the most of things and do what I can now.
Sorry you have been ill poppy, I hope that you are feeling much better soon.
Nannywindow your ‘me’ time sounds ideal. I hope that you enjoyed your night.
I hope that you all have decent Saturday whatever you are doing.0 -
Good morning Holls and all to follow
Stock that bag with some real goodies you will deserve them and your body will need them all to heal quickerDon't forget to squirrel away some money in your bag so that you can top your supplies up from the shop or the trolley. Anything you forget we can sort though so don't stress yourself out too much.
Of course I will update all of our friends on here we will have the daily Holly news report
Need to work for a few hours today after my befriending call ...when I say work I mean volunteering today its online which is one bonus but still seems to be taking over a bit at the moment. That finishes at 2 so I have a few hours then off then out tonight with a bestie to our favourite local indian. I can feel a Tandoori grill coming on
In between I have a couple of washes to do and Asda are coming again after forgetting quite a bit yesterday. New pickers obviously they should know my wine order by now :rotfl:
Off to watch Masterchef final now after working last night so no spoilers for an hour or so please
Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday :A0 -
Went to bed late, got up stupid ealry.
Not feeling too bad today, apart from the arm - ripped off a bit of dressing over the picc line[accident] , exposed the blue bit, ripped a bit of skin off, need to call someone or go to hospital to get it re-dressed early...still accident prone I'm afraid...
No plans for today, OH will be out, may try DIY, may just think about it.
Happy Saturday, have a good one as possible all.
Holly - good call. rest up, stress as little as possible...
Nelski - have a good curryNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly, I didn’t get on to post yesterday but wanted to add my best wishes to all the others. Can I be so bold as to say your attitude seems very different this time and you are very much more in control of the situation? Take care m’dear and make sure there is plenty of goodies in that bag x
Beautiful day here but much colder than the last few days, I have a painful knee at the moment and am suspecting a bursitis flare up, it was bad yesterday and I couldn’t ride Lu which upset me, have been treating it with cold pads and anti-inflammatory medication so fingers crossed.
Will be mostly resting today but hope to get over the yard to bring my girl in and give her a good groom.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning, and it's another fine morning here, though it will be chilly no doubt.
Glad you're getting stuff sorted out Holly, and I hope you'll be ok.
Nelski, enjoy your night out, looks as if you've got quite a busy day ahead.
Taff, I hope you get your dressing put right,it sounds painful.
Holly, I agree with you and Silver-Oldie - do what you can when you can, don't worry about a bit of dust, if it's a nice day go out and do something if it's possible,
It's nice, as well, if you can take pleasure in the "little things", the sunshine, meeting a friend, a nice walk - events don't have to be huge to be enjoyed.
Philosophising over, now get back to real life - we are going out today (taking my own advice) for a picnic and walk in a large forested area about an hours drive away, we'll spend most of the day there. Should be nice.
Yesterday we went for our afternoon tea at Tynemouth. We were seated in the bay window of the hotel dinng room overlooking the sea, lovely. It was a fine afternoon, and there were plenty of people around, we really enjoyed it. We called in to see younger Ds and family, then came home. I then went out again clutching a bottle of wine, to a friend's house for the evening. I would say that was a successful day!!
I hope everyone has as good a day as they can, thinking of those who are poorly and struggling with life.
Take care folks0 -
Good morning everyone.
It's a very chilly morning in Glasgow. Winter is definitely on the way.
Yesterday was almost awful. After our haircuts DM wanted to go into
L idl, I waited in the car. She was 40 mins. and then said she didn't like that branch. Next stop turned out to be T esco, happily it has a cafe. Another 40 mins and a huge amount of stuff later we got home at 4pm.
This morning should be a quick gallop round W aitrose and then I can drive home. I'll be much colder in my own place not least because DM keeps her place very warm, over heated in fact.
Keep well Holly.
ScarletRibbons - you always make me think fondly of my years in Newcastle. We often drove out to a place called Bolam Lake to walk round the lake a couple of times.
Hugs to our poorlies.
I hope everyone has a Happy Saturday.0 -
Good morning all. Sunny, but looks cold, OH just gone out with the dog so will get a report in a while,:D
Holly thanks for starting us off, so pleased that all your preparation is proceeding well, you are doing great.
Lainey, I hope that your knee improves and you are soon back riding Lou.
ScarlettRibbons we visited Tynemouth briefly one chilly Sunday when we holiday'd in the NE and the Borders it was lovely.
taff that sounds if it might be sore, fingers crossed that you get it sorted soon.
Poppy sorry to read about your hospital admission, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
TA have as good a day as possible with Bob and your family.
Nelski enjoy your time with your friend this evening.
Nannywindow did you manage your relaxing me time, I do hope so.
Not sure what today brings, must visit mum today or tomorrow, I originally said Friday or Saturday, but feel that I am near to burn out, so weary and quite close to tears on occasion. Spent most of yesterday re-equipping the caravan, homes being found for most things, but it was sunny and warm and really wanted to be pottering outside in the sun slaying the weeds gently. My own fault and I know it will pass, trouble with this fatigue stuff is that it is difficult/impossible to pace oneself, one week you can move mountains with no ill effects and the next a mole hill will floor you.
Enough of my moans, have a great day everyone, hugs and spoons a plenty. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning All
Have been reading along all week and thinking of everyone especially the TA's Holly and Organsa (lovely to see you back).
As with everyone else Holly I wish you well and agree you have made the right decision.
It has been a major hectic and busy week at work and I was going to sit in and do some more work that I had bought home with me. However last night I was re-reading some of the posts and I think you have all rubbed off on me.I text a friend and we are meeting up for brunch shortly. The work can wait till later.
I hope everyone has a good Saturday, sun is shining here and I need to go and catch a train.

Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Especially the TA's and Holly.
Disaster this morning managed to tip a large mug of coffee all over the bed, luckily the quilt was folded down, but the duvet and a pillow really got it, both are in the dustbin and the bed linen in the washer, good job its a fine day...........
It was very cold last night, signs of a slight frost on the grass, sun is out but a real chill in the air.
I managed to empty two large pots yesterday, mixed the spent compost with manure and spread it on the herbaceous border. I have two white geraniums in pots on the front window cill. Will try and get a couple more done this morning, put markers in this time so I know what colour they are. forgot last year and had a to job to sort them out.
OH has his denture back, makes a great difference. At least I can understand what he is saying.
Ham, eggs etc for supper tonight, I got a couple of bananas yesterday so that will do for sweet.0 -
Morning all
Its a beautiful sunny day here but cooler than it has been, we have been lighting the log burner most evenings as I don't want to heat the whole house by putting the heating on yet, the burner keeps all of downstairs warm for free :j
We are sat waiting for the fridge its meant to be coming before 12, im glad it didn't arrive at 7 this morning as I like to lay in at the weekends after being up early all week, I wont actually believe its coming till it arrives as AO have been rubbish so far !!
I woke this morning with an urge for a steak so that's what we will have for dinner with a large garlicy mushroom and some crusty bread to mop up the juice
House is done as the lovely cleaner came yesterday so im going to go out shopping with dd and re-fill the fridge, tomorrow dd has asked us over for lunch, im going to help her cook a roast while OH does a couple of jobs at her place, her OH does not have many DIY skills although he does try.
Hope you all have good days xx
TA thinking of you as always xx0
