Delivery to argos c&c ebay

First time I seen something like this.
I didnt advertise anything other than normal courier delivery, hermes or special delivery options.
I noticed the address is an ARGOS store with a weird ecp code.
Did a bit of digging and looks like its some kind of collect service so printed of the label.
But I feel its an extra cog in the system so more can go wrong, do people have ok experience with this, and ebay didnt tell me it was this service I had to google myself about the code.
What concerns me is on the information pages it states if argos staff cannot process the code they will dispose of the package instead of returning it.
As a side note hermes is now only £1 cheaper than 1 day couriers, so I may stop using it, the price rises are frequent and they have almost caught up with UPS, DPD and special delivery.
The ebay page states the code has to be on the second line, but the address generated has it on the 4th line, will that make them dispose of the parcel or is it ok on the 4th line?
So
I will cancel my manual hermes order tomorrow when their customer service opens.
Label printed from ebay page itself has eCP as 3rd line instead of 2nd, the format is now. Name then ARGOS address, then eCP 3rd line. However the ebay page states it must be second line.
The ebay supplied label does not include return address.
The c&c page states argos will dispose of parcels not scanned in properly.
I am still considering whether to cancel order as c&c seems highly risky with argos been relied on. This is a £250 item. I may ring ebay tomorrow to see if they will agree to liability if argos staff fail to return item on scanning problem, if they refuse liability I think the sale will be cancelled, but ill offer chance buyer to supply me home address for delivery before cancelling.
I tried to opt-out of c&c for future sales but the ebay page generates an error, interestingly all their other setting pages have no errors, its funny c&c opt-out generates an error, kinda convenient.

You need to opt out of Argos click and collect if you don't want to offer it. I don't offer it and haven't for some time but didn't have an issue opting out. Perhaps someone who has opted out recently can help you with the error you are getting.
IME it doesn't matter where the code is as long as it is visible. You do realise you can edit your address labels on Shutl and Hermes?
As long as you can show delivery of the item to Argos then it's job done for INR. SNAD of course remains an issue for any item posted by any method.0 -
Are you trying to opt out of the item you have already sold?
Ebay wont agree to be liable for your postage issues. If you do get someone who says they will then suspect them to be wrong in the matter.
The buyer probably chose the argos option because they are not at home when the post arrives.
Expect the buyer to kick up a fuss and leave you a negative at the very least. Complaint of a NPS possibly?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
No opt out in future sales.
Regarding the current item It depends on the policy of what happens if argos staff accept the parcel from the courier but then also dont scan the code, the ebay website says in that situation the parcel will be unidentifiable and disposed off and NOT returned to the seller.
So I put the question to them, I place the eCP code on the parcel. It is as is displayed by the ebay website on the print label screen. The question is what happens in the following scenarios. I asked these questions on the phone.
1 - The parcel is accepted by argos staff from the courier but then the staff "claim" there is no eCP code and dispose of the parcel. But I then present a photo to ebay showing the eCP code is on the label, what action would they take?
2 - Similar to #1 but the scanner fails to pick up the code, or perhaps a mark is over the code from damage in transit, what happens?
3 - The staff refuse to accept the parcel from courier meaning I got no proof of delivery, , I assume courier returns the parcel to me, but where do I stand with ebay in this scenario, when I have sent the parcel using their tools and printed their own label out.
The result of the phone call is the operator and the manager both did not know the answer or were not willing to give me the answers to these questions, and I need to wait for a senior manager to ring me back later today.
Here is a quote from the ebay website. When you print your usual postage label, we'll include the eCP number in the second line of the delivery address. If this eCP number is missing, your parcel will be rejected at the eBay collection point location. In this case, your parcel will be unidentifiable and may be disposed of, without reimbursement. This may cause an ‘Item not received’ case to be raised against you by the buyer.
I have already contacted the buyer and he is understanding, I have said if ebay give an acceptable answer in regards to liability it will be dispatched on schedule, if they dont I will either refund him, or ship to his address refunding the shipping as compensation for the inconvenience. He says thats fine.
Acceptable answers from ebay would be that either the parcel would be returned to me, and I then compensate the buyer, or they compensate the buyer out of their own money whilst disposing of the parcel.
Unacceptable would be they dispose of the parcel whilst not returning the parcel (argos worker gets free £250 item to take home) and I am left to refund the buyer.0 -
You appear to be worrying over a lot of what if's.
But your missing the what if it's delivered properly without any issues?
Nothing stopping you editing the label and adding a return address label as well. I did that recently when the label provided by the seller/ebay? was larger than the packet the item was delivered in.
I simply removed my return address and resized it and added my address on the rear of the parcel.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have had no problems with Argos. No delays. No complaints.
I once had a problem with a buyer who did not collect and Argos returned the parcel to me.
I must have sent a couple of hundred that way.0 -
Campden again
That is to reassure people generally.
I have not, though, sent anything as expensive as your parcel. If I did, I could send it suitably insured to Argos, who would be responsible from there on.0 -
I think you are overthinking this. Sent several items to Argos with no issuesYou're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0

I have opted out of click and drop on my business account but only due to the fact that I had a shocking run of people just not bothering to collect, so I lost my outward postage.
I've left it on my private account (but I watch the situation carefully) purely because buyers seem more likely to collect if it is a one off item they actually want, rather than something small and new from my business account that they can get elsewhere.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I opted out of Argos collections when those cheeky sods at ebay decided to add it to all my items.
My items go from A-B, going from A-B via C sounds like adding an extra layer of things to go wrong. Item may go missing en route to Argos, get lost at Argos or buyer fails to collect.0 -
I opted out of Argos collections because people thought they could just order asnd collect that afternoon, and when they realised they couldn't, they never bothered collecting the item at my expense.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise.
