Anyone had a GOOD experience getting a CC with a PoA?

Mother banks with Barclays.
I have PoA for Mother.
Barclays generally OK for managing the account.
Mother wants a credit card (to pay IN FULL).
Barclays are insisting on talking to her in person which goes against the spirit and the letter of the PoA.
I am now looking for an alternate Credit Card company but wonder if anyone has managed to get a CC for someone else with ease?
Many thanks in advance

I can't answer your question directly. I can say that I have registered a POA with Barclays for my wife but I cancelled her credit card as it just wasn't necessary - not to say that it isn't in your circumstances and it is clearly different in a husband/wife scenario.
It looks like your mother still has the capacity to make decisions for herself - is that correct? Do you know why she wants a credit card because you do quite specifically state that it is her decision to want one?
How did you find the experience of registering the POA against her Barclays current account - or have you not done that? Did they ask to see your mother when you did that and does she still have use of a debit card/cheque book?
Might it be possible to get a free overdraft facility on her current account instead? Just thinking that might be easier to deal with than a separate credit facility - especially if the intention is to always pay in full.0 -
If you are using the PoA then your mother lacks capacity and should not be applying for credit.
If she retains capacity then she should apply herself.0 -
When I registered my mother's POA with Barclaycard they just sent me a card in my name. But they didn't send my mother's card at renewal time. Whilst she may not lack capacity to use one they will need to see her to confirm that, if only to protect themselves. After all they have given you the authority to deal with her account which has in effect withdrawn her's.0

OP's mother may have mental capacity, but not mobility, sight, hearing.
...and if a credit card would be useful to support the donor's needs, then either the donor or the attorney should apply for one, especially in this case where the donor has asked the attorney to get one.0
