Car accident claim, potential outcomes?
Hi
I couldn't find anything online but just need some advice.
I know someone who was in a car accident, they told the insurer and admitted it was their fault to the insurer. However, they were originally a student and had since become unemployed. The insurance company have sent this for referral and wanted to know when he stopped being a student. The car is a write-off.
We are now concerned about what the outcomes will be and just wanted to get advice on that. We see worst case scenario as claim invalidated so he has to pay the fees and write-off value of the car, and insurance is invalidated because they say he drove without insurance so he gets an IN10 and has to declare a policy cancellation.
Does this seem like a potential reality in this scenario? Would he have to pay for damages to the other vehicle and medical costs as well or should they be covered in regardless? Has anyone experienced this before and know the potential outcomes?
Thanks

I would put the details into compare the market with the 2 occupations and find the company they are insured with - if the unemployed choice is a no quote then you are in trouble - if its more money then they should just charge you the extra and pay the claim.
However if they have an out they may well try and take it, be prepared for a battle and chose the responses to their questions carefully.0 -
Forget the IN10 - he wasn’t driving without insurance.
The insurer has to pay the third party’s damages, but they may seek to reclaim those from your friend if they decid he has misled them.0 -
