CURRYS - TEAMKNOWHOW [KNOWNOTHING]
It would appear that TeamKnowhow (or Team Know Nothing as I believe them to be), are unable to pay adequate compensation when they or their contracted staff damage private or public property.
What happened…
August 22 2018:
The guyz who delivered my new fridge/freezer were great and I had no problem with them at all. The office, however, left a lot to be desired. I'd somehow forgotten to organize the install of the equipment, as the doors needed to be removed so they could get it in the house. Alas the office spoke to the driver on my phone and told them to phone their office. Their office said to phone the previous office and so it went on.
In the end I suggested we put the fridge/freezer in my garage and turn it on so the food from the old one didn't spoil. Then I would phone Curry's "service" people and arrange the install. This I did, and the nice lady managed to arrange the install for the following day. I await their arrival as I type. So, if there are any further hic-cups, then I shall be embellishing this review further. If all goes okay, then take it as (finally) read.
In all this, I have to say the HiSense fridge/freezer is an excellent looking unit...!
August 23 2018:
Two different guyz arrived to install the fridge/freezer, now stationed in my garage and working well!!!
On the install docket it quite plainly said “Remove Doors” so they could get the unit through my standard sized aluminium door at the rear of the house. Oh no, they knew better than that. Both of them measured up door width, including the opened door itself as it would not go completely back and out of the way – that’s what doors do! With 1mm to spare on each side, they decided to lift the unit in with the straps they carry on the truck.
There was no way they would be able to steady the unit that well in order not to get the doors scratched, and that is precisely what happened. The doors were ruined…!!!
Upon that I told them to leave the unit where it was and I would be getting in touch with Curry’s to obtain a total replacement fridge/freezer. They were given short shrift…!!!
August 24 2018:
I went along to our local Curry’s and spoke to a lovely guy there who completely understood the situation. Having spent ages trying to get in touch with his own offices, they no longer had any stock of the unit in question. Stocks were, however, arriving the following day; 36 of them as it happens!!!
I was asked if I could come back again tomorrow as he could not order something to replace my damaged unit without there being stock on-hand. I agreed to come back he following day.
August 25 2018:
On this occasion I spoke to a young lady on the TeamKnowhow desk in store and she was aware of the problem from the start. An hour and a half later, we finally got a replacement unit ordered from the Sheffield depot and they would advise delivery as soon as is possible.
The time taken was once again the Curry’s and TeamKnowNothing offices; they are the pits for sure!!!
A few days later I received a text to tell me they were delivering on Saturday, September 1 2018…
September 01 2018:
Finally, my HiSense American Fridge/Freezer replacement unit is delivered and installed by two Polish guyz, who were brilliant...!!! These two guyz are the third set of delivery/install guyz to attend on this continuing saga.
But wait for it…the guyz unwrapped the replacement unit only to find that that too was damaged, only this time at the Sheffield hub. A severe fold/crease in the back-left lower corner, which could have caused all sorts of internal damage to the electronics or the motors and/or compressor…!
Other than get yet another (the third) replacement unit, I agreed with the guyz to have the new doors off the new unit attached to my one-week old unit as I knew this one at least worked fine...!
This is the story so far and what transpired was beginning to turn into a bit of a nightmare, but at least I now have my HiSense Black Steel Fridge/Freezer in situ and working, with un-scarred doors…Hoo-Bloody-Ray!!!
Incidentally, one of the lads phoned his office to get approval for changing the doors, and once again, everyone there seemed to be running around like headless chickens. No-one seems to want to make a decision. Bless him for taking the sensible decision himself in pleasing the customer and not the nameless idiots at TeamKnowNothing...!!!
September 10 2018 - IN ADDITION:
I should like to point out that if “TeamKnowNothing” mess your linoleum or carpet or anything else property-wise up when attempting to deliver say, an American Fridge/Freezer, as they have done to mine. BE WARNED - THEY ARE UNDER INSURED AND THEREFORE UNABLE TO REPLACE NEW FOR OLD when their operatives mess up...!!!
The damage done would have cost £200appx to put right, as in replace the entire linoleum floor covering, whether it be 10, 20 or 30 years old. Mine was in fact about 20-years old but in those days, they made stuff that lasted, hence it remained, up until TeamKnowNothing arrived, in good appearance and working order.
I was offered the derisory amount of £100 in compensation for what will cost me almost double to have done! I was going to take them to court but I really cannot be bothered with a firm like this. Instead, it is my intension to inform the world and all who live upon it that they are not worth dealing with. A good friend of mine suggested, after the event, a company called AO (on-line only) who are cheaper and their delivery people seem to have some nouse and intelligence about them when they have a problem to solve at the property. I shall not be ordering anything from Curry’s ever again unless there’s no alternative, then it will have to be something I can carry out of store and drive home with and install myself. Because I’m never going to have TeamKnowNothing in my property again…!!!!!
It is most unfortunate that an organisation such as TeamKnowHow (KnowNothing) cannot afford to properly insure themselves against operator mishaps and damage caused to private property. I’m hoping that I get BBC’s Watchdog interested in this event and maybe the appropriate government department as I believe this company are taking the proverbial.

A warning is only worth noting if it is fact-based. The facts here are your assessment of the as-new value of the property damaged as being £200 and your assertion that you have had 20 years' usage of it. Currys has offered £100. That offer is not the cost of new-for-old replacement and unless you were guaranteed compensation on that basis before delivery then Curry's insurer's valuation is never going to be found unreasonable by any civil court.
How this leads you to state that the service doesn't carry enough insurance is inexplicable. All that has happened is a valuation disagreement. You have one figure in mind re the value of 20-year-old goods. Currys has another. You believe yourself entitled to new-for-old cover but Currys doesn't.
As to the other points you raise, fair enough. No-one I know amongst family or friends would ever go anywhere near it. The chronicle of your own experience, when added to the countless number of similar chronicles to be found on the 'Net, reinforces that. It's a pity you had to undergo the experience you've shared here but to be fair, the issue of 'under-insurance' is pretty much irrelevant: Currys has enough in the way of consumer complaints stacked against it without adding that to it.0 -
BoP will now summarise for the could not care less.
OP ordered a fridge thing that was too big to get through their door without some removal of the doors. Children are not involved.
For the record, the saga in their view is below.CURRYS - TEAMKNOWHOW [KNOWNOTHING]

They're not under insured - they don't have to replace new for old, if your lino is 20 years old it's perfectly acceptable that they wouldn't just replace it, as that would be betterment (and not what insurance is for).
And no, before anyone says it - I don't work for them.
Also it's guys, not guyz - not sure if that was intentional or not, but thought it'd be helpful to point out (unless you were trying to be 'street' or 'G' in which case, I apologise).0 -
