  • Holly, that's a good decision and will ensure you're well looked after in every way. Hugs to you xxx.

Glad to hear MrsSD's and taff's good news.

My neighbour with the cut hand left me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, not necessary but very kind of her. She's doing fine and has her daughter living nearby who can give practical support.

Sewing group this morning. Did quite a bit of the tapestry background at yesterday's monthly U3A craft group and met some very nice people. When this tapestry's done, I have a companion one to do, so that I'll end up with two cushions, one for each daughter to inherit as "something Mum made".

Good luck today Spekky. And have the best day possible, everyone. xxx

Holly I am sorry that you need to go into the unit, but pleased that the option is available to support you over the coming weeks, I hope that you will be able to stay in touch, but we will be thinking of you whatever.

Taff and Mrs SD good news from you both last night.

Silver-oldie my late parents in law kept saying we will do so and so when we retire, but sadly ill health prevented them from doing so many things. My OH (probably because of this) likes us to get out and about in our caravan, enjoying the countryside and coast and visiting all the historic places that interest us. I do appreciate our good fortune, and in spite of my reduced ability to go walking etc we do cram life in :rotfl: Fortunately we don't have expensive tastes in terms of meals out, clothes, and these days seem to be almost TT. Keep on enjoying your coffees and people watching as much as you can. My Ma who is housebound says "no one can take away my memories" of their trips to Scotland, Ireland, The Lake District etc, just a week each year, but a full memory bank.

Waffled on a bit - sorry- hugs to all who need one and their four legged families too. We have an empty caravan on the drive and a house full of stuff to sort, and a viewing of it to arrange with a friend who will be around later:D:D
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)
  • Morning chums another reasonably sunny day, although a bit on the nippier side. Eldest DD had a trip to Norwich with her boss for an awards ceremony so had to stay overnight They went to the awards dinner last night there and 'Barry' from Eastenders was the compere and she said he was really a good speaker. She is on her way back today but has to go straight into work so won't actually be home until late afternoon.

DGS Ben has his second interview today so I have everything crossed for him.

History club this afternoon which I always enjoy, our subject this afternoon is Ada and Alfred Salter, just going to google them shortly :):)

Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs>>to those who need one

    Cheers JackieO xx
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Holly...I am sure you have made the right decision to go into the unit as a voluntary patient, you will get the support you need there. Do take care, we will miss you.

As always the TA's are very much in my thoughts just now.

DD2 sent a request for carrot cake for 7th...special request from DGD apparently, will have to brush up my skills its ages since I last made one.

A sunny morning, down to 4c overnight, if it warms up a bit I have a couple of jobs I want to do in the garden. We went to my quilting friends yesterday. Another friend called in whilst we were there and told us that our favourite garden centre had manure 3 bags for £10, so we diverted on the way home. There was a bag with a split top, we were offered it for £2, it was full so we got 4 bags for £12 result. Its stacked in the garden ready for our gardener to spread it on the soil as he weeds etc.

OH gets his denture back today, I am relieved, its difficult to understand him at times.......I hope it fits ok and he does not have any problems with it. Will be parking in Lidl again until he rings to say he is ready to be picked up. Hopefully we will hear from the new dentist soon, although I will have to pay for parking, its not so far to walk.

Toad in the hole tonight with veggies, we had fish and chips last night. I was given half a plate apple pie, so we had that for dessert. Will pick up a couple of bananas from Lidl for dessert tonight.

    Morning everyone.

I'm up and raring to go. DM bagged the shower first so I was forced to spend a bit more time in bed.

Holly - you're being very strong and facing your own challenges down. It's a great decision. I hope you're allowed your mobile this time and I look forward to hearing how you are via Nelski.

On the agenda this morning is double hair cuts. I think my shampoo has tomagrow in it and DM hasn't had a proper cut since May. She's been chopping it herself so now needs some professional attention. I prefer a dry cut as I haven't the patience for all that faffing around or lying backwards.

After that...who knows. Hugs and thoughts to all, TA, you and Bob especially.

    Happy Friday to everyone.

Morning all. Woke up at seven but then passed out again till about nine, lay in stupour for a couple of hours thinking about getting up. Am now up and have tea. The disgusting taste in my mouth is back, so food is going to be a pin for a while. Havn't found anything that takes it away or cuts through it. No energy to do stuff today yet, normally i get a bit better towrds the evening.
Holly, good to hear you are taking charge of yourself and doing something positive in your situation. It was initially very scary for me but dark humour is definitely helping me :). After a while, it just becomes something you do, you don't think too much about it, you just carry on. I sort of look at it like a DIY problem, you need to do this this and this, and then we'll see what happens. I would also suggest looking to see if you have a Maggies center near youfor when you are ready. There's one near me but I haven't gone yet, will probably go when the radiotherapy is happening, but they have complimentary health and chat sessions, with massages and various other things. |I would also suggest you look for a group chat thing in person, it might help later on. And good luck for you.
Camelot, here's to eating cake :)
OL - dehyradration can do weird things to you, including headaches, maybe a mint or ginger tea will stay down?
SO - yes we do :) It kind of kicked in when my mother died a few years ago, but it wasn't until the cancer thing that I began to think about things differently. Work, eat, sleep just isn't going to cut it anymore. I don't want to be in the position where I want to go to places, do things, and my body or my health will stop me.
wee midgie/snoozer - quilting, OMG! so fiddly, and tapestry sounds lovely, but again, so fiddly! I admire you both :)
Gers - such a shame to have to lie in :)
Hope the interviews go/went well for you DGS and Sperky...

    Happy pre weekend all...

    Holly

Well done on making a brave and sensible decision and my fingers and toes are crossed for you.

Enjoying the fact that I do not have to be at the library or a dd today so having a very lazy day. Had a late breakfast of bacon and egg on toast and realised that instead of paying a bit extra for bacon medallions I could just use ordinary rashers and cut the fat off.

Have been really surprised how the habit of popping to the local shop to get a few bits most days has mounted up to a bigger total than when I order groceries online and plan what I want to cook so will try to make an order for next week. I would like to use what I already have and not spend any money this weekend other than treat a dd to the cinema tomorrow.

Lamb chops were taken out of the freezer last night and the carrots, onions and potato that were languishing in the fridge made a lamb casserole which has just finishing cooking and will be cooled, fat removed and portioned out in lidded containers. I have portions of beef casserole and chicken chilli in the freezer for dd and sil to pick up when they next visit.

    Hugs to all

Sorry not to have been in touch but ended up in hospital with a chemo induced infection. The care I got was so kind and efficient but I am still feeling fairly grotty.

Holly I am sure that it is absolutely the right decision for you to access extra care, brave lady

Afternoon all, I shall try not to lose my post today. OH stop groaning at the back ! :rotfl:

It's been a lovely sunny day but very windy, so I have been out gardening this morning. 2 lawns cut and 2 hedges trimmed. I tried to do the side hedge too but I'm not tall enough to do the top and Mr Fix It won't let me loose on the ladder, so my night in shining armour came to help this damsel in distress :D. Being vertically challenged has it's advantages ;):D. In return I swept up in his shed until I had a coughing fit because of all the dust . That's the front garden done and reasonably tidy, so tomorrow I want to do the back garden if the weather is favourable.
Mr Fix It will be out tonight on his annual works reunion, so it's going to be an all about "me " night. This will include a bubble bath, then PJ's on, feet up with the TV remote and chocs/treats to hand :D:D. He only goes out once a year so I'm making the most of it :j
I think tea tonight will be something egg based, perhaps a spanish omelette, as I seem to have an awful lot of eggs in the fridge .
Holly I hope everything turns out well for you. Sending you lots of love and hugs.
MrSD I hope MrSD has a swift recovery. Take care of yourself too xx
Poppy I'm sorry you are unwell. Take care and get well soon. Hugs
    -taff good news
    Camelot enjoy your weekend

Hugs to all the poorlies and their carers and anyone having a tough time at present.
    Love nan xx
