Big hike in energy prices after changing supplier

As always advised on this site, I have many times shopped around and changed gas/electricity supplier when my existing supplier announced a hike in their charges.
I had been with EDF for a 2 years until this Summer. Due to a significant price rise and my tariff ending, I shopped around and went over to Igloo. I estimated I could save at least £60 annually, plus the fact they were a UK company based not far from where I live. They were one of several showing on this site as offering among the best deals. Soon after moving over, I received an email from them to say that due to an increase in worldwide wholesale prices, they had no option but to increase their gas/electricity prices wef late October. This will mean a monthly increase for me of £13.63. Not only will this wipe out my estimated annual swap-over saving, it will cost me now considerably more than had I stayed put with EDF, even with their recent price increase. This is such a blow to me and I'm devastated to be quite frank. If only I had known before I swapped!
I have contacted Igloo to request some sort of a concession as a new customer, but to no avail. So I feel to do yet another shop around, although whose to say I wont yet get caught out again with another price hike elsewhere? Any suggestions anyone can make?

Next time choose a fixed tariff and not variable.0

Surely if you are on a variable tariff you can move again tomorrow (well today now)!0
