Proof of deposit for solicitor - Nationwide ISA

Hi All,
I’m pulling my hair our... our solicitor has asked for proof of deposit (so far so good). The documents we used for the mortgage application (Nationwide accepted print-outs as long as the URL was visible) weren’t acceptable to them.
I’ve been to the two building societies today, from YBS I have a mini statement of the last five months on headed paper, they say they can’t go back further - worst case I’ll have to take half a day off and show the solicitor the savings book if that’s any good...
However, Nationwide, where the bulk of the deposit sits, could only give me a printed account statement which they stamped and signed. BUT this statement only has the account number on it and not my name - let’s bet that this won’t be acceptable either.
What have others done to satisfy their solicitors - particularly if you had a cash ISA with Nationwide? We’re looking to complete in three weeks so wish the solicitor had flagged it up earlier (they’ve had the other docs for nearly a month...) as can’t go back and forth another million times...
Many thanks!

I printed off Nationwide docs online to give to my solicitors too, perhaps take a screenshot of the main accounts screen showing your name and account details underneath?
At the time of instruction the recommended terms were to withdraw ISAs into a current account for easy access, I’m surprised yours have allowed you to leave it last minute.0 -
Thank you - I can transfer directly into my Nationwide current account from where I can pay so getting it out shouldn’t be an issue.0

Don't you have an earlier statement (or account opening letter) matching up that account number with your name?
Yep - with a different address which apparently will cause issues, too:(
Going to pop into another branch tomorrow to see if they can print something else showing it’s my account, not heard back from solicitor if that’s going to be accepted.0 -
Surely as long as the account number matches to you... It's you that has the account, not the address. The fact that Nationwide have stamped it should be good enough (the government accept this so why shouldn't a bank) - I'm assuming this is for the money laundering checks.
Can you set up online banking to give you more access?0 -
My sympathies to you Sanne,
I went through a very similar thing, got my mortgage approved by Natwest no bother, had to go with a solicitor who was on their approved list so choice was limited.
They sent for a copy of the mortgage agreement and proof of my deposit, fair enough, I sent this to them, a week later because my deposit was in an ISA they sent for a breakdown of the ISA acount, I sent this off to them. A week later they contacted me saying that all of the payments to the ISA had come from an account (my bank account obviously) and they needed proof of this, I sent my last few bank statements off to them.
The next one was the strangest, they then asked me for proof of my identity, even though it was all over the documents I'd sent to them, so had to send them a passport photocopy.
Honestly they were hopeless, lets hope that your solicitor experience isn't as long and drawn out as mine proved to be.0 -
I have a Nationwide ISA - they offered me an old fashioned "passbook" for it. Could they do that for you? If updated properly, that may then show sufficient transactions to satisfy the solicitor?0

With HSBC I could only get the same printed documents as you in branch - They did, however, post me a proper copy for no charge that I received 2 days later.0

All sorted - branch three I went to knew what to do and printed me a branch statement with address, my name, last years transactions etc. Exchanged today
If anyone ever is in the same situation- that’s what to ask for!
Thanks for all responses.0 -

I've experienced this sort of mindless faff as well. Have these people never heard of Photoshop. I could easily fake any kind of document with/without url that showed I had £10million in the bank.
L&C Mortgages were one of the worst offenders.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
