"Unbelievable offer" from Virgin Sales Team

So just had a call from Virgin sales team, the Virgin lady stated that as a valued and long term customer she is pleased to offer me the service called Rescue Gadget which has 3 parts which are the following;

1) Gadget Healthcare - so basically any software issues i have on my devices they will fix for me
2) Anti Virus software - to protect me from hackers
3) Free calibration of my router and all devices connected to my router, so i will get fantastic internet speeds

All this for the "fantastic price of £7.99 per month"

What do people think? The lady was very pushy but i told her to ring me tomorrow because i wanted to think about it.

Strangely the Gadget Rescue website states " Total peace of mind starts from just £5 a month" which is less than what the lady quoted.

Does anybody else get Virgin ringing them from the number 08001836411?

    That is a genuine Virgin Sales number, but personally, I could live without the deal.

    "Time limited" = she's nearing closure time for her sales targets.

    Excuse me while I laugh. Ha ha ha. Ha.

    Fix software issues eh? On any device? Really? So if you brick your router they're going to fix that. Yeah right. Most software issues you can fix yourself if you can Google and follow instructions.

    Anti-virus software you can already get for free, IIRC Virgin bundle F-Secure as their choice of product which isn't particularly fabulous in the first place.

    As for "free calibration", this is probably aka "changing the wireless channel number" which you should be able to do yourself.
  • So i ignored the calls from them last 2 days, but this Virgin sales team are persistent, she rang me again today but this time from 08004089340, i answered thinking she would ask me if i had made my mind up about the Gadget Rescue offer, she actually treated me as a new caller going through the whole thing over again, how i was a valued customer and they were pleased to offer me gadget rescue...................

    Because of my brummie accent and her really thick Indian accent , we were really struggling to communicate with each other, i had to put the mobile down after telling her i was not interested 3 times.

    The conclusion i have drawn from this is that the Virgin Sales team are not trying to look after their customers with bargains but it is more pressure selling regardless how genuine the "bargain" is.

    Also be aware, they called you. You didn't call them. If you were you happy with what you had you don't need it - if not you should complain/try to sort something else out. As you put it they're a sales team, she's trying to sell you stuff to make them more money and so she can hit her targets. This might sound mean but they don't care about you per se, to them you're just a number.
