Our small charity for which I'm a Trustee has recently ordered some branded goods, based on the recommendation of a much larger charity.
Received the goods - and it's the worst printing job I have ever seen. Bits falling off or not even there to begin with, creases all over the black print, showing white lines, even the boxes they came in were battered and falling apart at the seams.
Opened a case with Paypal and even their email address lodged with Paypal was incorrect yet, within days, without even looking at the photos, Paypal have ruled in favour of the seller and we are now left with 200 branded bags that we cannot use.
So, I've since seen online that custom products are not covered by Paypal's Purchase Protection but surely if goods are not as you are lead to believe - in fact far from perfect - there must be some protection for the purchaser?

Yes - you can make a claim against discountmugs.com through the small claims court for breach of contract.
Presumably you've explained the problem to discountmugs.com - what do they say?0 -

They are only willing to re-send 12 bags (which equates to the number of photos we sent). And having seen the quality and standard of work, even those 12 bags will be of no use.
I'm not sure small claims would help in this instance, since we're in the UK, but the company we ordered from is based in the US. Perhaps worth looking into and I will do that - thank you.0 -
US company then USA /state consumer laws apply to the purchase .0

Thanks to all those who responded - really appreciated. The good news is that the company refunded the payment in full in the end. Lesson learned - never use Paypal for branded goods since there is no safety net should things go wrong, and never proceed on the basis of one recommendation!0

That's incorrect.
Your claim with Paypal failed as "customised/personalised" goods are not covered for "not as described".0
