Stair Lift regulations & requirements help

Options
Hi,

In regards to curved stairlifts what are the regulations and pre-requirements to have one?

In mm what free space between the hand rail and stair lift is required to allow people to walk up or down the stairs?

Also what area of free space is required for landings?

Which govt or body monitor these adaptations?

  • Im not sure there is a "govt body" if in doubt contact your local council maybe? Have you had advice from the people supplying the lift?

Obviously the stair lift company want the sale by any means so I just want to make sure that their claims add up by cross referencing it to the council regulations.

The council is birmingham city council. I'm on the council website and cannot find anything so far.

Inst there any national regulations for stair lifts?

I would ring them and maybe speaking to building control/regulations people, wouldn't have thought it would come under anything else.
