Amazon video streaming

Ive watched various episodes of Grand Tour, Jack Ryan plus other series and not had the issues the OP has experienced.0

I've also never had any of the issues that the OP has experienced although i tend to use Netflix a lot more than Amazon Prime Video for streaming. Both of these offer a good amount of 4K content and you certainly won't get anywhere near that with a DVD; a DVD won't even be HD.
It is true that if you have a decent Blu-Ray player, a decent 4K TV and a 4K Blu-Ray Disc the quality will be better than a 4K stream from the internet but this isn't what the OP is referring too.0 -
i've never had a problem either.
I have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV, all using the built in apps on my TV with a wired connection to my Virgin BB.
Last film I watched was Avengers - Infinity War on Amazon in HD 1080p and the picture was great.0 -

I never mentioned anything about buffering or bottlenecks, that's not the issue. It's the actual quality of the video stream itself. The sort of thing you get when some programmes are transmitted at really low bitrates.
FYI I'm on Sky fibre running my Amazon Fire TV box (4K version) directly via ethernet connected directly to the Sky Hub. There is/was no "bottleneck" my end, and it's not just this particular movie, there's always been a reduction in video quality streaming pay-per-view, so-called HD movie content via Amazon. Strangely though, their own shows seem to be OK.
Get shut and get a fire stick instead, unless you actually need 4k, if you want 4k then use an xbox and install the Amazon App instead.,Fully paid up member of the ignore button club.If it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, it's a Duck.0 -

The 4K FireTV box is not, it's basically a bit rubbish at everything even HD. I had one a whole afternoon before i packaged it up and sent it back. A quick google showed that many many people had, even there own reviews are 50/50.

Mainly found my info on AV forums (around 18 months ago), and wouldnt you know it Amazon only have refurbs for sale at the moment of which their are 15 reviews. The new Fire tv 4ks had around 4000 (when i had mine) reviews and while 50/50 might have been a little harsh trust me they had stinky reviews. The Electronics were just not upto standard was the general consensus.
If you have someone that has the bog standard fire stick see if you can borrow one for the afternoon, trust me alot better.
I am of course taking it for granted that you have a decent speed internet.,Fully paid up member of the ignore button club.If it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, it's a Duck.0 -
I'm using the 2nd gen 4K box, not the newer Fire TV 4K thing they now have and it's usually pretty good. The sort of thing I was seeing is typical of very poor video compression and plenty of other content looks fine with it so I doubt it's the hardware.
Yes, I have Sky Fibre broadband and connected via ethernet so the broadband speed, bandwidth is not an issue. I can't watch that particular movie again as my 48hr rental is over now, however I do now have it on blu-ray so will check to see how that looks, maybe it's just badly encoded.0 -
Cant help you then mate, it's definitely not from the Amazon end, i can stream HD and 4K perfectly through my 4k Xbox.,Fully paid up member of the ignore button club.If it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, it's a Duck.0
