DRO and psychotherapy
Options
Funny thread title I know but wondering if anyone could help...
I have been told by Business Debtlibe that I could apply for a DRO and they're currently sending me the pack in the post.
I have a few questions:
-My husband goes to see a private non NHS psychotherapist fortnightly (£50 per time) which we've added under 'health' in the household budget. Debtlibe said that it stands out a bit and that it might help for my husband to get a letter from his NHS Dr justifying the need for this health wise. The problem is that his Dr has no awareness that my husband uses the (private) psychotherapist in order to manage ongoing depression because my husband has never wished to treat it medically.
Do you think it will be seen as exatravagent by the DRO intermediary?
If before the DRO goes through, they tell us to take it off our household budget (husband said he's happy to stop going if it will help me get the DRO) is this something that they might do or do they just refuse you for the DRO?
My husband is going to be doing a DMP for his debts and at the moment after accounting for all household expenditure in our budget (not inc debt repayments) we have a £200 ish deficit at the end of the month.
I've been asked to get the deficit between our income and outgoings decreased by having another go at the budget, working more or shopping around for cheaper deals, so I've looked at it tonight and seen that I could reduce the grocery and household cleaning down by about £80 less a month, I can reduce school trips from 20-£5 pmnth (because we could ask the school to subsidise this) and I'm due to get a £100 net per month (at the most) pay rise in November so that should take us closer to breaking even each month we'll also look into switching electricity providers.
Does it sound to you like I will be rejected for a dro because of husband's therapy?
Thanks for reading, I know it's a long one.

Depends on the intermediary. If there’s proper medical need then it shouldn’t be a problem.
If you are at a deficit of £200 per month how is your husband intending to pay into a DMP? It sounds like you don’t currently have anything to put towards the debts0 -

No. I don't even think that he need justify it. He's a third party to your DRO.
The aim to have a balanced budget though is correct. You have previously (both) been propping up your expenditure with credit and that can't continue indefinitely. Check every item of expenditure.
If Bulb or Octopus turn out one of the cheaper energy providers remember there's a £50 sweetener if you get referred by someone (check referrals board).
So why is your husband not doing a DRO?0
