Hi, long-time lurker, first time poster, so go easy on me.
I know there have been many dozens of threads on this issue, but I haven't been able to find any that match our specific circumstances.
We've received a quote from a local independent to replace our current combi boiler (which is now 15 years old and limping) and 10 old radiators. We're being quoted £2100 for a top end Vaillant and associated smart thermostat, new flue, etc - which is slightly higher than I expected, but not significantly so - and £1,500 for new radiators. 4 bed house. The bit that's surprised me is that total labour is *another* £2300 on top (this includes system flush, etc).
We're in London, and I appreciate it will be 3-4 days work for 2 engineers, but we'll be looking at almost £6000 all-in which is a couple of grand over what I was expecting (especially as this is a like for like replacement. We are not moving any pipework or asking them to take up floorboards, etc).
Anyone have any views on whether this is a reasonable price? I've used the company before and trust their work, but obviously not keen to be ripped off. To be honest the quote feels like it's edging into British Gas territory to me, but I don't have a point of reference at the moment.
Thanks in advance.
