Was about to sign up for the above tariff and was shocked to see I was agreeing to having a Smart Meter fitted (in the small print.)
I have since read that this Government enforced installation is the only way to get the cheaper energy deals.
I do not want a Smart Meter and am insenced that i am being forced to have one if I want a good energy deal.

  • Why are you so against a new meter ?
Have had mine for 2 months with no serious issues.
Moved to Monthly Whole Bill DD so they automatically read the meter and I will never be in credit again, just get billed for what I actually use and as I am away a lot I don't have to be here to send in readings.

Certainly not the only way to get cheaper as OP claims .How many other deals insited on a smart meter ??

Must have gone through at least ten swaps to cheaper and no smart meter was part of the deals .

As said on hundreds of posts on this subject, you are unlikely to get the better deals unless you agree to a smart meter.

The energy suppliers are having their arms twisted to install them and at least one has been fined for not installing them fast enough so you will be "encouraged" to have one.

You have the choice, refuse to have one and pay a higher price or have one and get a better deal.

In the end it's a meter, it really doesn't matter whether it's smart or dumb or black, yellow, red or blue.

You may think that it's a waste of time, effort and resource but you'll eventually end up with one or pay a lot for the privilege of refusing as there will be fewer tariffs available that don't insist one having one.

Having a rant on here wont make them go away
