Broken rotary washing line wire

We've got a rotary washing line which we've had for years and the wire has snapped today - I'd rather just buy a new wire than a whole new line if possible and would like a bit of advice - is it possible/easy to fit a new wire, and where is the best place to buy from please?
It's quite a big line so hopefully they'd give measuring instructions!
Also would a cover help extend the life? I guess exposure to the snow and then sun this year hasn't helped? Or do people put them away when not using?
Thanks

Wilko's or other type stores sell the replacement line. Easy enough to thread through
For measuring, take the existing line out (taking note of how it runs through so you can thread new line in the same way), lay it on the floor and use a tape measure.0 -

I tried this. It was a disaster, couldn’t get the tension right at all and every time I folded it it didn’t open up properly or evenly without lots of fiddling around. After struggling with it for a few months I gave up and bought a new one.Determined to save and not squander!

A cover would probably help stop exposure to the sun. We put ours in the shed in the winter when we know we won't use it. Helps stop the bottom of the pole rusting also. We had one blow over in a strong wind when full of washing as the pole had rusted.Make £2025 in 2025

Thanks for the replies - I think it's worth giving it a go and I'll try and measure it tomorrow0

That was my experience too. It's not as if they are expensive items.0 -

It's for cutting down on waste as much as saving money, as the frame is perfectly good, but I can see it might be hard to stop it going saggy.
I've bought some new wire but I'm still able to use the line just avoiding the broken bit so I'm wondering about trying to tie the broken ends for now and put off possibly ruining the whole thing!0 -

Ties off the broken ends and use some of the new wire to replace that one span.0 -
