Not on the register..?

Options
I am trying to move energy supplier , the proposed new company Bulb inform me that neither my gas or electricity meters are recorded on the `national register '.I contacted the national grid who confirm this fact also - they suggested i speak to my current supplier Green Star Energy to get registered . The house I live in is a single build by an independent builder so I think he failed to officially register when the house was completed in 2014. My concern , other than now being on more expensive tariffs , is how have I managed to have x3 different suppliers in 4 years but never had a problem before - has anyone else on the forum had a similar issue ? Would contacting Green Star be any use if i'm intent on leaving ? Any advice welcome please ,

Only your current supplier can solve this issue. Until they have sorted this out, you will be unable to move.

You need to ensure 2 things are not being mixed up here as you say 'meters'. The property should have an MPRN for gas and MPAN for elec which should be printed on the bills. This is what is used for switching and you can't have switched in the past without one.

What Bulb could be saying is there is an issue with your meter serial numbers on the register. This can't stop you switching but is better off sorted before you do switch. Again most suppliers print these on the bill so you can check these yourself against the physical meters.
