Show me what you have done with your bulkhead/over stairs

Looking for inspiration on what to do with the bulkhead section over the stairs in the little bedroom of the house we are buying.

Currently it has been built put to be a built in single bed but we have no use for this so will be knocking it out. We will be putting in a double bed on on the opposite wall (not built in obviously just free standing).

We want to cover the slope and make practical use of the space so were probably going to ask a carpenter to come and put in a built in cupboard over it. But just want to make sure I think through all my options first.

  • That's what we have, a built in cupboard built over the bulkhead. The cupboard is MDF and is floor to ceiling so it just looks like a cupboard/wardrobe and we painted it to match the walls.

We converted it to be our ensuite, so we have a cabinet built in with a worktop and the sink.

Is there actually a properly decent hosting website for pics? I used to post them but photobucket went all spammy and I get randomers criticising me on Imgur :o :rotfl:

I use imgBB. They will give you a clicky BB code link for boards like this and copying it is one click.

  • The best use I have ever seen is in a B&B in Bruges. They have built a toilet in the space ,with the floor suspended on two steel cables from a roof joist. Having used it several times over the years, all works safely!!!
