Utility Point - anyone else asked to pay an extra £4.00 pm?

Options
Just back from a week away on business and discovered an email from Utility Point saying they are increasing my monthly payment by £4.00.

No explanation as to why, and my account has been in increasing credit with them every month since I joined them. The round figure increase of exactly £4.00 pm more than I currently pay, which was originally calculated and charged to the penny, is also rather suspicious.

Has anyone else received an email expecting them to pay Utility Point more money from 1st October? If so, how much was your increase and do you think it is justified in your case?

Any advice?
I've already fired off an email from them and waiting for their response/explanation.

Yes, several people has posted on a similar issue on the Utility Point feedback thread.

Seems of all those that have had an increase demand, it is a flat £4pm increase, irrespective of the amount currently paid, the account standing, consumption, etc.

Of the 2 people that have posted that they have objected, both seem to have had the increase cancelled, and one was evenm offered a reduction instead.

I'm not sure what Utility Point are up to. They seem to introduced a fault in their computer algorithm that calculates what the regular monthly payment should be. Whether that is accidental or not proves to be seen.

Now that you have objected, hopefully you will soon get the increase reversed likewise. :)
  • Just had a reply from Utilty Point.

They have agreed to my request to reverse the demand for the extra £4.00 pm.

    As we were... :)
