What area do you live? Interesting how Manchester and South Manchester come out at £487 and £488. Must vary quite a bit, why is that?

I'm basing my totals on the figures OP provided. My own region (Midlands) gets quite different rates. I assume its largely down to different charges from different DNO's transporting (and storing with gas) energy over a patchwork of different infrastructure.

Incidentally, If I use 2100 and 1500 with the rates bulb quoted me just before their hike a couple of weeks ago I get £505 (Compared to £790 for my actual usage)

I would add my support for Octopus. I switched my electricity to them in February. The transfer was smooth and I was kept informed throughout the process. In July, we moved into a new build property with SP as the Deemed Supplier. A month before I moved in, I contacted SP and was told that it could take some months to set up my accounts. Until they had been set up, I couldn't move to a cheaper tariff! I was not prepared to accept this so I contacted Octopus having first confirmed the details held on the National Databases for my MPAN and MPRN: as it happened, both these details were incorrect.

Octopus agreed to implement a switch using the incorrect address data. The actual transfers went through 2 days after legal completion. Octopus have in the last month or so updated the two databases and changed my MPAN to show the correct electricity meter serial number. They also set up my gas tariff as if I had made a dual fuel transfer in February. I am not sure that any supplier could have been more helpful.

Despite repeated requests to SP for a Final Bill covering just two days of usage, their silence has been defeaning. They have though acknowledged that a transfer has gone through.

The OP is still talking in riddles despite simple questions that would ordinarily have simple answers

    I'm out!

You're either a moron or a Customer services advisor for bulb if you haven't understood the OP at this point, I have no doubt you're out.

Thank you for your feedback. For me it is not simply the cost but a decent standard of service. I do read reviews and make a decision based on this. I am going to go ahead and set the ball in motion. I owed Flow £230 60?. I paid that online to clear my account. My latest statement was not to hand at that time. Today i see I am just over £100 in credit but there will be a few weeks before the change happens. I still have a direct debit with them. Not sure if I should cancel this as the credit will be more than enough to cover my next bill. Advice please Sue

With one exception, I have never cancelled a DD on switch. The exception being Iresa. Yes, it is true that your existing supplier may take the next DD whilst the transfer is in progress, but all credits will be refunded after your Final Bill has been raised. In the unlikely event that Flow was to go bust after your transfer has gone through, your credit balance is fully protected. I would not worry about leaving your DD place but be prepared to pay two suppliers in the same month.
