British gas (electric supplier) contract has finished after two years. I guess they have put up my electric bill. They project I should pay £100 a month but live in tiny apartment. I believe it's 19.3p for a day and 9.5pence for night plus 26 pence daily standing charge. I called them but they can't better this.

change companies to a fixed tariff?

went to uswitch and they said - Bulb was £272 cheaper and Powershop £147 cheaper. Should I change to say Bulb? Or is there a catch why they're cheaper? Or are they really just as good as British Gas JUST cheaper?

It's not difficult to be cheaper than British Gas on their standard varible tariff ;)

What is your location, and how much energy do you anticipate you will use in kWh?
If you have E7, what is your split of day/night usage of electricty?

Lets get you some proper savings ;)

Apparently annual usage was 9496 kWh.

    I have storage heaters
    last years annual usage-

    day energy was 2786

    night energy was 6710

Not sure what E7 means but I have a cheaper rate at night

    E7 = Economy 7
    https://www.ovoenergy.com/guides/energy-guides/economy-7.html

So based on your location and anticipated annual consumption figures, according to EnergyHelpLine, you could opt for:

£870pa. - Ebico Night-Owl v2. This is a fixed tariff for 12 months. Sadly I do not think you will be eligible for this tariff as you use over 60% low rate.

£916/£917pa. - Utilita Smart Energy /Utilita Premium Energy - these are variable tarffs

£988pa - Powershop Top Shopper August 2018 Issue 1- another variable tariff

£1038 -Fischer Energy One Fair Tariff - also a variable tariff

Or you can waste even more money with Bulb Energy buying exactly the same electricity and they will charge you £1043 pa . As you no doubt know, their tariff is variable and as published recently on MSE, they have indicated prices will rise in November.

Bulb to hike energy prices by a whopping 11.1%

Of course, other suppliers may also raise their variable tariffs - but it seems you'll already be paying almost 14% extra with Bulb Energy today.

So you may wish to consider fixing.
Unfortunately, you've missed out on the good fixed tariffs, but for a few £ more you could fix
£1082pa -OneSelect Secure Sept 1 Year Fixed 2018

Yeah I want to go for a fixed tariff. I am not one to check on prices much or monitor it much.

Who do you recommend for fixed tariff?

Called ebico and didn't press the numbers for dept so they hung up on me so poor customer care. Not them

I don't recommend any supplier or tariff.

I recommend users consult a comparison site to find the best deal for them.

My previous post gave just a short except from the results from just one comparison site to give you a flavour of what is available.

Is there anyone who could recommend a fixed tariff recommendation?

I looked on the site but didn't really understand it. i'll go with what you guys reckon is a good one.

Got to say when calling the other suppliers their customer support is terrible. British Gas was the best. Oneselect better than two others which hung up.
