Historic bank accounts on file?

I am new to this forum and is seeking help... i had a fine in 2011.. and know i paid the fine off. However i have had a letter last week from historic debt collection agency from the court. About the fine i 'didnt' pay. Which i know i did...
However my old bank account with santander did not show any payments. So am looking to find out what bank i banked with between 2011 to 2013. I had a new current (still in use) account with barclays and that was in 2012 august...
All my bankinhs was paperless statements.. bad bad idea cos now i am struggling to trace payments!
I am also at a loss to why the HDCA not have my paid in full on record? I also saw somewhere that the court is appointing hdca as a new scheme to collect old unpaid debts...
Im deaf so phoning around is very limited and askinhg my wife to phone for me is very difficult due to identy protection etc.
All i need to do is find who i banked with on 2011 to 2013 so i can check that 3rd bank i have so i can trace payments.. last resort is my wife's account which might be challenging.

Your three credit files will show any account which reported to them over the last 6 years.
Otherwise, it's down to your own memory or filing.0 -
Hi Syfibash and welcome to MSE,
I agree with zx81 about checking the 3 credit files and hoping something shows on there to jog your memory. Once you recall this information, hopefully you should be able to get a statement to prove this, but if the statement is more than 6 years old, the bank may no longer have a record of it either.
The historic debt team is from the Magistrates Court. I would suggest you write back to them and explain what you are doing and ask them to put the matter on hold a bit longer. If they decline, and you are unable to get the records before the deadline there is a risk of further action. Unfortunately, this can include bailiffs or a deduction of your wages (if you are on a PAYE income).
You should get 7 days notice of bailiffs before they can attend and you should be aware that these bailiffs would reserve the right to force entry, although it is very rare. They will normally try and come inside peacefully, so keep the doors locked, do not let them in, and hide anything valuable outside the property. Best of luck,
Laura

I have told my wife if i cannot find the proof... i will let them know and agree to pay the fine til i find the proof. I will explain to them that im still looking. I know i paid cos my wife done it all over the phone and i just cannot remember the name of company. It was not historic debt team.. it was something else...
But they have been made aware that im looking... given us til mid october. My barclays bank have ordered statements sent to me from start of account and hopefully bears fruit.. im adding every payments to ensure im tracing the correct payments total amount. If it does not tally then i dismiss it. I only have one debt now.. that one... rest are bills...
If anyone mnows or remember the company the court used before historic debt team came in play.. that will help a lot.. i asked the court and they were very poor in helping.. asif they treat me a criminal!
The fine was for driving with no insurance... however i was not aware i was driving with no insurance as i at the time went through a bad breakup.. changing addresses online etc. I did not read that part that thr car insurance will be in effect at 00:00hrs of date etc... i was stopped 2 hours before insurance was in effect. So my fault i should of double checked bit here we are... lesson learnt.
However 7 years on and being chased for debt i know i paid... and they do not have records of it was shocking really... my driving licence had the fine on it and 3 years ago i checked online when paper licence was no longer in use shown £0 as in fine paid.. is that not proof enough?0 -
Hello again,
If you still have a copy of your paper driving licence (or any paperwork) showing that the fine is £0 and the reference number on that paperwork marries up with what the historic debt team have sent you, then you could put that forward to them as evidence and see what they say.I have told my wife if i cannot find the proof... i will let them know and agree to pay the fine til i find the proof. I will explain to them that im still looking. I know i paid cos my wife done it all over the phone and i just cannot remember the name of company. Originally the fine would've been done through the Magistrate's Court, as opposed to a company. It is good that you are trying to gather evidence from several sources, and are considering all options to prevent enforcement - including paying the fine and reclaiming later when evidence is hopefully found. Best of luck,
Laura
