SM are also more difficult to read, particularly if your eye sight isn't great, or if they are fitted in a difficult place.

you press 2 buttons 9 ? lots of number scroll across the display.
one of the numbers is your reading.
and before you can write it down, its gone

Correct. Its the worst meter possible I have seen outside of business meters which are even worse. The screens flit through pretty quick and they are not very easy to see especially if its down in a corner somewhere under the stairs. It also has EIGHT digits ! and a miniscule decimal point which should not be there on domestic digital electric meters. Five is the industry standard.
Anyone disabled or with vision problems will have to rely on the In House Display , which won t work when the meter becomes dumb
The Secure Liberty 100 is being used by virtually all the small suppliers and one of the big six, Eon. The other big 5 would nt be so stupid to pick this meter even if it is a bargain low price.
One good thing about the meter is it is in the list of smart meters capable of being enrolled into the DCC when it becomes live.
That is reported to be from November 2018 to June 2019 but I would nt bet on these dates. 2020 is more likely seeing as Capita is running the show

In the same way we're always 20 years away from commercial nuclear fusion power, the DCC is always coming 'next year'
