New boiler
This is my first post here so forgive me if I'm being a numpty.
My 20 year old boiler now needs to be replaced, I have a decent quote for 1,200 but I have recently suffered alot of family issues and had time off work and have just come off of JSA and returned to work as a nurse, however it is only part time until I build up my hours. I don't get a wage until Oct 10th and am on no benefits. Does anyone know of any grants etc I am looking at Turn2Us but I don't think there is alot that I am eligable for.
Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum. Have you tried this bit of MSE? You will have to read through it to find out whether you qualify for any help. If you don't, you will have to do what everyone else does; find a way to finance it (not payday loans, please!) or do without while you save up. I know that sounds harsh but it is also true. I could not believe we did not qualify for help but apparently our old boiler was 85% efficient when it needed to be <83%... Yeah. The fact it was dying was irrelevant, apparently.
Have you considered joining a credit union? I think you need to pay into them for a period first but they can be a better source of credit than high street banks again, for those who qualify.
I can definitely recommend the MSE Credit Card Eligibility Checker. While it cannot be a crystal ball, it gives a good (imo) indication of which credit cards you are most likely to be approved for without leaving a trace on your credit file. That is what I did when our boiler died on us. 0% is the only way to pay interest, right?

Presume its one of the newer boilers that cant be fixed, hence a new one.
Still using an old Olympic boiler from 1984, so what if its not efficient £2400 to replace over X years (probably 6) will never recoup itself in cos saving.0
