Nationwide Recommend Friend Question

Hi guys,

I'm having problems with the advisor on nationwide chat answering this, so assistance from anyone else here please, as it may have been done?

Is this scenario possible?
Person X and Person Y are engaged, living at the same address.

Person X open bank account at random bank with 2 direct debits (BA1)

Person Y open bank account at random bank with 2 direct debits (BA2)

Person X and Y open joint FlexDirect account at Nationwide
Person X recommends Person Y via joint account to switch their own BA2 to a nationwide flex direct. Done. £200 bonus in joint account.
The above is certain based on what I have read
Person Y recommends Person X via joint account to switch their own BA1 to a nationwide flex direct.

From the last line above. Is that possible? For the other joint account holder to then recommend the first, in order to then receive another £200?

From FAQ:
I have a joint account. Can I recommend the other account holder for a current account?

If you recommend the other account holder and they switch, you’ll both be paid £100 into your joint account, providing they meet the terms and conditions of the offer.

The question is not regarding switching any other joint account. The question is if both holders of a joint account can be recommend, as their FAQ only mentions "the other". But if each did each other, is that fitting?
  • joint account already with nationwide, they do not offer recommend

    So there's your answer.
only can benefit from one current account, nope for joint account
    that response makes no sense
joint account already with nationwide, they do not offer recommend
and that response makes even less sense

    Thanks Colsten.
I wasnt sure because with Santander joint accounts for example, you each have your own login.
So I was wondering if you could recommend each other.

I also agree on useless responses from alan.
  • We've got a joint account with Nationwide and my husband recommended me and we got the £200. I was surprised we could do it but it definitely worked. Unfortunately he hasn't got enough direct debits for for me to recommend him to switch!

£200 must be worth it to find a couple of small DDs, surely?

This version didn't work for us:
I referred OH both got £100; She ref'd me: Both got £100

She ref'd me from joint ac... no bonus; CS said you've reason is both been paid the switching bonus before.

So for sure £400 between 2 is achievable - more maybe not. Let us know.
