new boiler - how should I fund it?

I have a quote which totals £3900 including VAT. Not sure what my options are as I only have about £1000 savings.

Just one quote, that sounds higher than the 'average' quote.

Is that just for a replacement boiler? I have been getting quotes for new boiler: 8 radiators, 2 towel rails, some replumbing, and running pipes to and adjoined garage for utility area. The 2 quotes so far: £4600 and £3300. Which makes yours sound very expensive. Get some more quotes.

It's not just a new boiler. Need a new gas supply pipe, radiators need flushed out as I have an old system at present and changing to a combi. Includes HIVE controller. And linking cold mains over to feed bathroom, disconnecting cold water storage tank in attic.
  • Assuming you've already asked parents/family if they can help out in the short term, your option would appear to be a bank loan.

Yeah, there's no government grants or incentives?

Thanks. I don't qualify for a new boiler grant.
  • There are companies out there now that are doing boiler replacements on finance, with some good rates.

For me, their prices were quite high but they are similar to what you have been quoted. If they are going to charge you the same, then maybe this is an option.

We had a new combi boiler fitted (Worcester Bosch) by Eon Energy, removed all our old tanks and pipework and fitted boiler in same location as the old one, for £2600 I think. We got it on 0% interest from Eon over 3 years, its about £60 or £70 a month.

Theres several local plumbers to us that also offer 0% packages on WBosch boilers, work googling it

Or try for a 0% credit card maybe?

Yeah, going to look into the 0% credit card idea
