To switch or not to switch?
Hello
I received an e-mail saying that I am on the suppliers std tarif and could save by switching. I’m with solarplicty dual fuel, following the last group switch. When I follow the link I’m shown a confusing message that congratulates me for being on a cheap deal but explains that energy club is about more than that. The comparison shows that i’ll lose money by switching. Was I told to switch because my current deal isn’t price fixed and it is expected that a cost increase will take the cost above that of the recommended supplier. Or was I sent it in error?
Thanks for your help.

As you are on a standard tariff - switch !
Put your actual consumption for the last 12 months (use kwh, not £) into a comparison site.
Don't necessarily stick to dual fuel, run the options of seperate gas and elec.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Are you a member of the MSE Cheap Energy Club?
If so, I suspect the message that purports to be from them is not a mistake. Easiest way to check, which is what almost all emails from the MSE CEC say, is to log into your account, do a latest comparison, and see for yourself where you stand..
It's entirely up to you if you wish to take the cheapest option open to you, but you have just signed up to MoneySavingExpert.com
If you are not yet a member of the MSE Cheap Energy Club, the message would indeed sound like it is an error or a scam, but perhaps you would consider joining to ensure yopur are on, and remain on, the best energy tariff(s) for you :money:0 -
Thanks for the replies. I am in the energy club and switched to solarplicity as advised and went straight into their std tarif, I believe.
I’ve done the comparison and was told I’d lose money if I switched. But was I advised of the potential switch because now is the time to get a fixed deal and if I stay with solarplicity the price will rise?
Thanks agsin0 -
I would switch i just put my actual use in to Solarplicity and comes in £91 p/m which is sunstantially cheaper than te biggies running £120 - £160 p/m.
I recently accepted an increase around £3 p/m on my current supplier but still comes in sub £60 p.m all in elec and gas.
The one with Fox in it so far so good since March.0 -
Received an e-mail from solarplicity- they would put me on a new tarif. I’ve switched instead.
