Number pad for Laptop

I hope someone can tell. I bought a usb number pad for my laptop as I use spreadsheets alot and am used to a full size number pad. Problem is that it wouldn't work independently of the laptop keyboard. I had to enable the number lock on the laptop keyboard to get it to work, so everytime I needed to type letters I had to disable the number lock and then enable it again etc. etc. Has anyone out there every used an independent number pad with their laptop that doesn't interfere with the laptop keyboard, and if so, what make is it and where can it be purchased?
Many Thanks in advance

Why not just use a complete separate keyboard? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I use one all the time, I think I bought it from PC world can't rememeber how much it was but it is a USB one which works fine. Also being so small I just leave it in the laptop caseBug? That's not a bug, that's an undocumented feature. :dance:0

I use a Targus number pad which connects through a USB connection.
It came from Staples and works great - don't know the price (probably around £10) as Staples threw it in when I bought my laptop.0 -
Many Thanks for the replies,
I don't have the space for a full size key board, PC world don't stock them and won't order them in, said to register with PC busines world and order on line & we don't have Staples in N Ireland.
I'll order one on line as long as I know that it won't interfere with the letters on the main keyboard.
Many Thanks again everyoneIn giving
