Unfortunately I do not, I had shown the landlord 14C at the time they visited (4 days later), but I guess you are right, thanks for your help and advise.0

Granted it’s a high number, however 10-14c is too cold in living areas for anyone, especially whilst my partner was recovering from a transplant.
So your partner who is cold after having a transplant is worth less to you than the £50 heaters that you didn't buy? I hope they know that they are worth so little?0 -

OP I know this is a moneysaving website and you don't want to spend money, but maybe you could have found some cheap second hand ones on Ebay, Oxfam, local charity shops e.t.c."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

We had a cheaper option of staying with my mum which we implemented straight away to avoid any health issues, whilst not ideal living on a sofa for the duration, it was the far safer option.0

That was probably fine. For future reference fan heaters are surprisingly effective, so you could've taken the one you were given from room to room most likely. That's what I did when my boiler died. Sounds like the property was a bit of a pain!0

I think some people are being a little harsh on the OP here. Yes perhaps they could/should have done things a little differently at the time, but I can't imagine it would have been easy to have to deal with all of this when their partner had just had a transplant. It would have been a very precarious time, and we don't know what their financial position was throughout all of this either.
Hope your move goes ok OP and you are moving to a better property!0 -
OP while you have circumstances that were unfortunate. The LL unfortunately treats it as such, business and nothing personal. their probably overseas and deal via the EA.
You cannot expect much other than what's in the contract and what is 'reasonable' timeframe to fix things essential such as heating.
Depending on demand, it can take up to 4 weeks to get a boiling engineer to fix or even attend. You have to be realistic as well. getting portable heaters is the only thing you have control over.
The downside to renting unfortunately. I had a rental where the radiators didn't work, bought electric heaters as the LL didn't bother nor did I expect them to do anything."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
