Callcredit Statutory Report - Hard Search

Options
Having obtained statutory credit reports from Experian and Equifax in past, I decided to see my Callcredit statutory for the first time.

I was very suprised to see that the act of requesting my statutory credit report from Callcredit resulted in a hard search being put on the record. It's listed as "Identification Product (Credit)" and the section under which this is listed says"These searches may be seen by third parties when they check your details with Callcredit".

Why on earth should my requesting details held on file by Callcredit result in a hard search that could affect any future application for credit? Seems wrong.

    It says 'may'.

Statutory Reports are the ones that CRAs are required by law to provide to punters. They tent not to be very pretty.

The part you're looking at is titled:
    4. CREDIT REPORT SEARCH HISTORY

Searches on your details through Callcredit within the last 24 months. These searches may be seen by third parties when they check your details with Callcredit.

It lists all searches that have been performed.

I think the only ones seen by others are the ones titled 'Checking Credit Application'.

It is listed as a "credit" search and it absolutely shouldn't be.

If it is as the OP claims it to be they need to complain to Callcredit.

It's not a hard credit search.

Call Credit lists all searches together.

You can suck it and see for yourself: https://www.callcreditstatreport.co.uk/CreditReport.

Well I'm confused (easily done!): Callcredit's report has two search sections under section 4:
    4. CREDIT REPORT SEARCH HISTORY
    4.1 Others' Searches
Searches on your details through Callcredit within the last 24 months. These searches may be seen by third parties when they check your details with Callcredit.
    4.2 Your Searches
Searches made by you on your Credit Report through Callcredit within the last 24 months. These searches will not be seen by lenders when you make an application for
    credit.

And my Callcredit statutory report request is showing up in section 4.1, as an identification search for credit ["Identification Product (Credit)"] so is visible to potential creditors, so is a hard credit history search.

Surely my Callcredit statutory report request should have gone into section 4.2 (as I was not making an application for any credit product), and so be invisible to potential creditors.

Compare with Equifax's and ClearScore's statutory reports where there are "Credit Searches" and "Other Searches" (Equifax), and "Credit application searches" and "Quotation and personal searches" (ClearScore). All the my statutory report requests for these two appear in the "Other" and "Personal Searches" sections, not in the credit application sections!

    Not good at all!
