Have you tried reinstalling your graphics card driver, or using system restore to a date before this started??0

my gateway did that, even after a graphics upgrade. i think it is a vista thing...used ti happen every 10 mins or soFr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

All I can suggest is try reinstalling graphics driver again or reinstall to factory defaults using the recovery dvd that you undoubtedly got.
I am not impressed atall by vista. I got my acer laptop with xp home about a year ago, and have installed vista as well.
Have the problems of trying to get correct drivers, intel graphics driver update through windows update doesnt work atall right, keeps reverting to windows default theme on startup,
Real player wont allow the aero gui and trying to resize the default fonts is a right pain in the neck.
Its really unbelievable that so long sinch launch vista still has these problems.

display driver stopped responding is commom on vista when using old driver and sometimes new one for the graphics card ,there is no real fix to it yet ,the only way it mite get fixed is to get the latest graphic card drivers (that mite meen using a beta driver too)and update vista ,it is not a bug and it is very unlikly any thing to do with your hardware or vista it's down to the drivers that you are using ,has the main graphic card chip makers (nvidia/ATI ) are having a hard time getting there drivers to work with vista still put they are getting better with every release of driver, put they do not work for every one yet (some still come up with this fault)
i was lucky i only had it for a few months before they got it right and every driver since has work right put i now lotts of people that still have problem with the drivers
sorry to be the bearer of bad newsthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
Thanks for all your replies guys.
I too am not that impressed with vista. I can't get my printer to work since getting this new pc. The flamin thing just won't recognise it, we (or rather hubby has )
have tried everything. Uninstalling , reinstalling it !
Hubby is going to reinstall graphics driver again tomorow. Hope this helps as it sure is driving me nuts now, its happening more and more0 -
if it starts getting unuseable then i would try reducing the graphic demands by turning off aero graphics . Also turning off the side widget bar can help for some reasonNudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0

I used to get a similar thing with my Vista Ultimate, I downloaded the latest Ultimate wallpapers (which move like, water, rain etc), so being fed up with this couple of seconds of blank screen I just stopped using them, fine ever since, I like Vista, but this Aero and Ultimate extras is just a lot of puff. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

Hi there,
Can i just tell you that mcafee does not yet work with windows vista properly,I had the same problem so i removed mcafee and used avanta instead. No problems since.Keeping microsoft vista updates is also a must as they are slowly ironing out any bugs
