cellar/basement room with low roof - silly to make it an occasional room?

hi all, as above, would i be silly to do this.. make the cellar/basement room with low roof - to an occasional room?


roof height is approx 6ft id say as id probs hit it if i tiptoe. this si without lowering the floor and giving height. would it be a silly idea? i was thinking occasional tv/ play room for the kids



but then im thinking it'd be waste and just use both rooms for storage as normal


thoughts please



googled but cant see anyone thats done it without lowering floor

You don't give enough information.


How long you've had the house? We've just experienced one of the driest summers on record, so a cellar that's now fine could be sailing in 5cm water by winter.


Even if it's normally dry, it's a rare un-tanked cellar that remains so in extreme weather. Lowering the floor could also make it worse.
