    If you bung in a complaint to the tour operator they will probably give you vouchers against the cost of a future holiday.

    You would need to prove that the hotel was negligent.

    Given your wife didn't spot it, then it is highly likely no one else had seen it to report it.

    You would need to show that they knew about the water but had deliberately delayed any action to mop it up or the water was caused by poor maintenance e.g. a leaking roof.

    I'd put this one down to bad luck.

    My inclination was not to do anything further - but wanted to validate here first.
    A forum full or amateur sleuths is not the place to validate a complicated legal legal matter. If you have a case, and I don't think anyone has said you don't, just that the liability needs to be proved, then you need real expert help. That's a solicitor who specialises in personal accident claims.
