Can I demand a recording of a phone conversation with SSE?

Just to add to the above, under GDPR (May 18), SARs are now free. Are you sure that the telephone conversation was recorded?

The bar for valid consent has been raised much higher under the GDPR. Consents must be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous; tacit consent would no longer be enough.

They never tell you if a conversation is being recorded, AFAIK. On this page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation
It states (under the green heading) :
'Data subjects have the right to request a portable copy of the data', but the hyperlink in 'portable' does not lead to the arrangements for sending the file if it is larger than the email attachment limit.

You would be given a transcript of the recording under a SAR , provided they still have the recording.
Some firms only store them for 30 days.
