Plugs in brickwork

Two bricks at about head height in walls that form a corner of my house have these plugs in:

Is anybody familiar with this type of plug and what purpose it serves? It looks like a Nerf bullet, but it feels like tougher plastic.

Are they the things used by structural engineers to monitor movment over time?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If you look above the plug is there a satellite dish? It looks like the one the "engineer" put in when he had put an eye bolt in to secure his ladder to.If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0

You mean Demec points? They would normally be metal and have a 'dimple' machined into the top that the gauge accurately fits to. The black plastic thing might be a cover, but I've not seen one like that before.Doozergirl wrote: »Are they the things used by structural engineers to monitor movment over time?
I think the OP needs to be brave and see if it can be pulled off revealing something underneath....

I agree.
Our satellite dish installer drilled a hole to install a temporary fixing to secure his ladder. When finished he removed the fixing and fitted a plug similar to the one in the above picture.
OP, just leave it as it may be required again in the future.0 -
Same as the above, the sky installer put one of these plugs in the hole he drilled to secure his ladder. It’s so they can reuse it if they ever need to do work on your dish.0

Yes, there was a satellite dish above it [at least one, seem to be a few clusters of bolts up there]. Definitely a tricky spot for getting a ladder to due to steps and low walls. I am going to pull it off and see if the house deflates.0
