Parking Controll Management Parking Fine County Court Business Centre

Yesterday I received a letter from the county Court business Centre on behalf of Parking Controll Limited.
This referred to parking charges dating back to October 2017 of which I was totally unaware. This is the first communication I have recently ever relating to this matter.
My house has private parking outside and we all have parking permits in our windscreens.
The only thing I can possibly imagine is when I first moved into the house in October 2017 there may been an odd day when the permit was not in the window, but as this was nearly a year ago I cannot really say if this was the case or not.
Any ideas what I should do about this?

Well, as you have received a Claim Form and Response Pack from the County Court, it might be a good idea to read what it says about responding.
Then, if you intend to defend it, read the NEWBIES thread, post #2, on this forum, where some kind person has gone to the trouble of setting out a complete soup to nuts guide for the entire Court process.
I think I should apply to go on Mastermind - specialist subject, stating the bleedin' obvious.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the Newbies faq thread before starting a new thread
If this "letter" is a "claim" or "judgement" then you first need to read up on this in the newbies faq thread near the top of the forum
See #2 there on how to deal with a claim.
(If a judgement - then a set aside will be your way forward, also covered there, though hopefully it's a "claim" rather than a default judgement)0 -
Think of it as putting together some IKEA furniture. You have to have the correct tools (the facts of the case and evidence), you have to put it together in the right order (Newbies thread or Civil Procedure Rules). At the end should have a well assembed case.
If you have parts (facts/evidence) missing or if it was not put together correctly, it will fall apart at the first touch by a judge.
So all you need to do is to get the facts together and we'll show you how to assemble it in the correct order.
Quentin is suggesting you read about the process/how to assemble but we really need to know if your lease requires you to use a permit in the first place. Was the space included in your lease/rental agreement and what does it say? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Where is your vehicle's registered address (check your V5C, not your driving licence)? This referred to parking charges dating back to October 2017 of which I was totally unaware. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
