Drilling Through a PVC Window

I need to run a small wire from outside to inside, which means drilling a hole through the frame of a uPVC window. Is there any way to know where to drill so that I don't hit metal. I know there's a lot of metal inside the PVC.
Thanks.

  • I don't now how to avoid the metal insert but when you do drill it,s best to drill at an upwards angle in to the house so any rain wont work its way inside.
Also if you run the wire downwards run it below the hole and loop it back up also to avoid any water ingress.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: sorry for the hysterical laughter but i read your title as I want to drill through my PC window... I had visions of you being soooooooooo frustrated with a slow PC you were about to take a black and decker to the screen! That'll teach it to muck about!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: PS... I've flet like doing that many times myself... hence my hysteria.
PPS I hope someone sensible will come along in a minute and actually answer your question!
    Good luck

why not drill through the brickwork below the window? that's what the sky installer did in my house. i'd be scared to hit electrics tho

my windows have sealant all round and that can be removed, cable run in the corner then resealed.

Not a good idea to drill through a uPVC Window, far better to drill through wall.;)

your guarantee will be void if you drill through a p.v.c. window, best off just under the cill at the end, less chance of water ingress there.
