Best sealant for frame of a timber conservatory

Can anyone advise the best sealant to use for a timber-framed conservatory? I've tried silicone sealants sold by B&Q but they don't seem that great.
The conservatory is being renovated and was originally built using sealant in various parts of the frame. Some of it needs to be replaced and I would like to find the best stuff to use.
Thanks.
