Entering competitions for the purpose of donating prize?

Hello!
I enter lots of competitions with the aim of trying to win the prize for one of many local charities/projects I support, such as my dream of winning a games console for my children's unit at hosp etc.
I am never certain though if the terms and conditions of most competitions don't allow this in theory? However I am confused because surely when you have won the prize it is yours to gift to whomever you chose?

Have you won things that you've donated to charity?

I've won a couple of things that I have donated to my local charity or to post pals, most of the prizes I enter for I have a person in mind who I am going to gift it to though or to keep for myself. Like baby things - I've got nephews and other relatives that are pregnant, toddlers - I have a nephew. Children - I have nieces, wedding - I am currently planning and so on.
But I do however take into consideration those that are in need or the ill children at post pals and have donated to them too, nothing wrong with it, once you've won the prize you can do what you like with it, gift it to whoever you like, although some prizes do state you can't sell them on or sell them on for a specific time limit, but this is only occasionally in the terms and conditions and I never enter anything personally that I can't use or gift, for the intention I'd sell it.

I enter comps to win books among other things, on the odd occasions that I win a book, I donate
it to my local library, that way the book is shared among many people.
