They do it because they have to according to ofgem rules. They have to show the cheapest tariff available at the time of producing the bills.

That's it takman. We need to show our cheapest tariff at the specific time 'could you pay less' messages are written. As above, these messages are based on what we know at the time and are tailored to individual circumstances. Things can move very quickly leading to messages soon being out of date. Totally understand the frustrations this can cause.

The 'could you pay less' message isn't an offer. It's a signpost to a particular tariff that could save them money.

Totally appreciate, this isn't something a regular MSE user would need to be reminded of. The messages are aimed at our entire customer base, some of who aren't as actively engaged with their energy accounts.[FONT=&quot]

I agree, when tariffs are changing as often as of late, it can lead to frustrations.

... some of our tariffs don't always stay on sale for long. I don't know how long version 18 will be available. It depends on the take-up.

Thank you Malc you for your very reasoned responses.

Based on your explanations above, perhaps its the savvy MSE readers that are (at least partly) responsible for the extremely rapid take-up your cheap energy deals, at the expense of your remaining customer base who end up missing out!

    Sorry about that Malc. :rotfl:
