British Gas 'Unlimited energy' tafiff

Recieved a mailshot from BG offering their dual fuel £120 per month 'Unlimited energy' tarfiff until November 2019, suggesting I could save 'x' amount per year.

I am currently on the 'Everything Online Aug 2019' tariff, and I don't know if there is some kind of catch I am missing out of.... why would BG try and save me money lol! :rotfl:

Your current tariff Unlimited Energy Nov 2019

Your Personal Projection
Gas
£701.43
Based on using 15783 kWh
Electricity
£742.60
Based on using 4394 kWh

Unlimited Energy Nov 2019
Gas
£720.00
Based on using 15783 kWh
Electricity
£720.00
Based on using 4394 kWh

Has anyone switched, are there any catches to the offer?

    Welcome to MSE!

Good luck if you can get it.
When I put those consumption figures into the BG website, it says I would be ineligible for their unlimited tariff.

There was a similar thread very recently that indicated similar.

Why would you pay £120 pm (£1440pa), when a tariff apparently is available at less than half that cost???

...perhaps they are trying to retain customers rather than shedding them at an alarming rate.

British Gas lost 1.3Million energy accounts in 2017 (1,299,999 if you don't count me!) and that trend continued into 2018. They lost a further 340,000 accounts in the first half of this year.

13’ish Million accounts lost in total.
